April Housing Extends Affordability for 30 Years at Arlington Affordable Housing Community
Investing More Than $21 Million in Community-Wide Renovations.
ARLINGTON, Texas – August 3, 2026 – April Housing, Blackstone Real Estate’s affordable housing portfolio company, today announced the closing of their latest resyndication to preserve affordability for an additional 30 years for residents of the 240-unit affordable housing community in Arlington, Texas.
Through the resyndication process, a community-wide renovation plan totaling more than $21.5 million will upgrade residents’ homes, modernize major building systems, improve community amenities, and support the property’s long-term preservation.
Planned improvements include:
Unit and Building Upgrades
- New cabinets, flooring, and paint in homes
- New water heaters and HVAC systems
- Energy-efficiency improvements, including LED lighting
- Exterior painting and lighting upgrades
Common Area and Community Enhancements
- Playground and pool upgrades
- Accessibility improvements throughout the community
Perica Bell, head of preservation at April Housing said,

In addition to the community remaining affordable for decades to come, we are excited to kick off the full community renovations and upgrades we have planned for the families that live here.”
Built in 2000, the community includes 240 apartment homes across 11 buildings. Residents will continue to have access to existing services, including childcare, transportation, basic adult education, legal assistance, counseling services, financial planning, health screening services, and much more. ICON Builders will serve as the general contractor, and Benton Design Group will serve as the architect.
