Baypointe Apartment Homes $20 Million Renovation Locks In Modern, Affordable Housing for Residents for 30+ Years
April Housing Hosts Hard Hat Tour to Showcase Upgrades That Will Benefit 236 Families
WEBSTER, TX – (April 2, 2026) – April Housing, Blackstone Real Estate’s affordable housing portfolio company, recently hosted a Hard Hat Tour at Baypointe Apartment Homes, offering an exclusive preview of the extensive renovations underway at the community. In partnership with the Harris County Housing Finance Corporation, the more than $20 million investment will deliver modernized homes and upgraded amenities to 236 families — while securing affordable rents at this property for at least 30 more years.
Originally built in 2007 and located at 901 S. Kobayashi Road, Baypointe Apartment Homes is being transformed from the inside out. Residents will return to upgraded one-, two-, and three-bedroom garden-style apartment homes featuring new kitchens, bathrooms, and energy-efficient systems — alongside revitalized community spaces designed for everyday comfort and connection.
Attendees of the April 1 Hard Hat Tour previewed upgraded units, learned more about the renovation scope, and heard from leaders involved in the preservation effort.
“Preserving affordable housing while investing in meaningful improvements for residents is at the heart of our mission,” said Percia Bell, Head of Preservation of April Housing. “Baypointe Apartment Homes represents our continued commitment to enhancing communities across Texas while ensuring residents have access to quality, stable housing.”
What the Renovations Mean for Residents
April Housing’s comprehensive rehabilitation touches every corner of the community — all 236 units across 22 residential buildings. Residents will benefit from:
- Modernized kitchens and bathrooms, with new fixtures, energy-efficient appliances, and updated lighting throughout every home
- New hot water heaters and HVAC split systems, delivering improved comfort and lower utility costs
- Revitalized community spaces, including two playgrounds, a pool, a gym, and a clubhouse — upgraded for families to gather, play, and connect
- Rooftop solar installation, offsetting the property’s electricity usage and providing critical backup power during weather-related grid outages — a particularly important resilience feature for the Houston region
“Harris County Housing Finance Corporation is proud to partner with April Housing on the preservation of Baypointe Apartment Homes,” said Francisco Castillo, HCHFC board member and Housing & Homeless Policy Advisor for Harris County Precinct 2. “Investments like this help ensure families in our community have access to quality, affordable housing while strengthening neighborhoods for years to come.”
Long-Term Stability for Residents
Baypointe Apartment Homes are in Webster — a growing community within the Houston metropolitan area offering residents convenient access to major employment centers, retail, dining, and family recreational destinations. By preserving affordability at this location for at least 30 years, the partnership ensures that working families can remain rooted in a community they call home.
April Housing is one of the largest owners and preservers of affordable housing in the United States. Since 2024, the company has successfully completed the preservation of more than 3,000 affordable homes nationwide, with more than $255 million invested in upgrades and improvements for residents across the country.
A formal grand reopening celebration is planned once renovations are complete in late 2026.
