FORT WORTH, Texas (Oct. 15, 2026) — April Housing, Blackstone Real Estate’s affordable housing portfolio company, and the Development Corporation of Tarrant County (DCTC) today announced the grand reopening of Meridian and Wildwood Branch Apartments, two 280-unit affordable housing communities in Fort Worth. The preservation transaction extends affordability for residents for at least 30 years and includes almost $50 million in community-wide renovations.
A grand reopening event for both communities was held on-site at Wildwood Branch on October 14, with attendance from April Housing leadership, the Development Corporation of Tarrant County, Blackstone Real Estate, PNC Bank, Mayor of Fort Worth Mattie Parker, Councilmember Carlos Flores, Councilmember Macy Hill, as well as other officials from Tarrant County and the City of Fort Worth.
“Fort Worth continues to grow at an extraordinary pace, making it essential that families at all income levels can find quality homes in the communities where they live and work,” said Fort Worth Mayor Mattie Parker. “The preservation of 560 affordable homes at Meridian and Wildwood Branch represents an important investment in Fort Worth families and the long-term strength of our city. We are grateful to April Housing, DCTC, Blackstone and their partners for helping ensure these communities remain affordable and welcoming for decades to come.”
Since 2024, the company has preserved the affordability of 2,800 units and invested more than $280 million in capital expenditures to support the resyndication communities in Texas. Meridian and Wildwood Branch are the third and fourth North Texas communities April Housing has fully renovated this year, following West Virginia Park Apartments in Southwest Dallas and Waterford at Goldmark in North Dallas earlier this year.
- Meridian Apartments offers updated two- and three-bedroom apartments and townhomes, plus a renovated clubhouse, pool and playground. The community is about 15 minutes northwest of downtown Fort Worth.
- Wildwood Branch Apartments offers updated two- and three-bedroom apartments and townhomes, many with lake views, plus a renovated clubhouse, pool and playground. The community is near Lake Worth and Marion Sansom Park and about 15 minutes from downtown Fort Worth.
“DCTC is proud to partner with April Housing to preserve and improve these important Fort Worth communities,” said Charlie Price, president of the Development Corporation of Tarrant County. “These renovations extend well beyond physical upgrades. They provide families with quality homes, stronger community amenities and the stability that comes from knowing their housing will remain affordable for at least another 30 years.”
Renovations across all 560 homes and shared community spaces include:
- Renovated kitchens and bathrooms with new fixtures, energy-efficient appliances and updated lighting.
- Replaced hot water heaters and split systems with energy-efficient models to reduce energy use.
- Modernized shared spaces, including playgrounds, pools and fitness facilities.
- Installed rooftop solar to offset property electricity use and provide backup power during weather-related grid outages.
- In addition to these improvements, residents at both communities will have access to services at no charge, including after-school tutoring, transportation services, and educational classes.
